FACEBOOK INTERVIEW WITH THE FRIEND ATTACK

It's Friday afternoon. I've had so many energy drinks and coffee that my vision is kind of blurred and my brain is working really fast. I'm feeling extra kooky. Time for a facebook interview. This time, with thefriendattack.com's Laura Marais.

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM STEVEN HARPER

Tags: Art »

With the dawn of a brand new year upon us, we find ourselves in an economy doomed to failure, a major hole in our budget for the arts and, lets face it, a whole truck load of problems. While it might not be enough to fill the bellies of starving Canadian artists, we still managed to have a few laughs at the following illustration by Montreal-based artist Jack Dylan:

...and with all this merriment- Happy New Year!

POME/PHONOPOLIS ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY PARTY

Let’s hope you’ve heard of the seriously sweet show happening tomorrow night at Il Motore. If you haven’t, then take out your agendas and pencil this guy in, if you’ve ever listened to one thing I’ve said- let this be it. Montreal’s finest will be cozying up on stage, each performing mini sets in celebration of Pome Records’s first anniversary. Presented in part by Phonopolis, tomorrow night’s extravaganza will feature Handome Furs, the Luyas, Adam and the Amethysts, Shapes and Sizes, Elfin Saddle, Special Noice, Miracle Fortress, Patrick Gregoire, Snailhouse, Nut Brown and rumour has it, maybe a special apperance by Julie Doiron!  Keep in mind, this party is put together by the same guys who organized the secret Final Fantasy show during Pop Montreal, so for 8$, it's the easiest investment you'll make all year.

January 8th, Il Motore (179 Jean-Talon Ouest)

After a short holiday break, I'm back and digging into the archives of Pregnant Goldfish to bring you some of my favorite photos. This is one of those moments where the situation is perfect. I'm carrying my camera in my purse. I run into the cutest girl in the city. She is carrying a paper umbrella, wearing the best fairy ice princess little dress/raincoat combo. We are meters away from a rapidly melting ice castle. Wham bam now you've got a style blog!

SUPERCOOK

After a recent trip to the deli next door revealed that my bank account held less then 3$, I turned to the world wide web to provide my aching belly with a sweet dish made entirely from leftovers I’ve got in my fridge. Say hello to Supercook: a website that allows you to enter the ingredients you’ve already got and turn them into a gourmet meal. Tonight, with the food in my house for example, (frozen leftover turkey, cranberry sauce, bread, eggs, ginger and parsley) I’ll either be making Hawaiian turkey burgers, Fast and Friendly turkey meatballs or grab some apples on the way home with my remaining dollar and make some turkey-apple patties. Thanks Mr. Internet!
