Winter Gloves - About a Girl (Paper Bag)

Put it this way: I was not surprised to learn that the songwriters of Winter Gloves are into Clap Your Hands Say Yeah or Metric. If that's your thing you'll probably get a lot more out of this than I did. This Montreal-based band also sounds like Mixylodian (actually, alarmingly so) with cleaner production and sleeker vocals. The CD is very melodically repetitive, mixed with a lot of rhythmic clapping, twinkle bells, and a strong dancing component. I can't help but hear Winter Gloves sound as trendy as a St. Laurent haircut. At least hair grows back. (LG) 2.5/5
