New single from The Paper Cranes | Telephone

20 mars | Par Marilis Cardinal

We’ve been very patient, waiting for a tour that will bring them to our end of the country, but the band The Paper Cranes are busy in their homes of Victoria BC where, fronted by husband and wife team Ryan McCullagh and Miranda Roach, they write melodies that are more infectious than Cotton-Eyed Joe, and about a million times more pleasant. Yesterday, a nice little treat popped up on their MySpace page: the band’s new single Telephone, off their upcoming album Chivalry’s Dead. Finally! Since the release of their excellent LP Halycon Days last year, we had anxiously been left wanting more, more, more from our favourite Canadian pop band.

Telephone is a tale of unrequited love that has you hooked by its upbeat intro that brings imagery of early fall picnics until the first line; “Weep, weep, widows, weep” takes you for a ride through a mausoleum and sends chills down your spine.
